Upon reading "Straight Talk from a Wise Woman" one is left with a feeling of hope and trust, that we are indeed not alone, but a part of the tapestry of life. Though history and current disparities fill us with fears and anxieties we must learn to cope and move forward.Those of us who have had the privilege of spending time with Lorna Hines, always felt her positive presence. Having a teacher/ parent relationship enabled me to get to know her, to know about her outstanding training, parental skills and expertise in working with others and was always left with a feeling that she admired and respected the awesome task of what we did working with her own children and countless other children. The experience recounted in Straight Talk was vivid, probing and emotional it validated feelings we shared. One immediately feels the depth of her compassion and is inspired by her quest to move forward.
